I always imagined myself on a beach in the middle of winter, with a mojito with a fancy straw and a colored little umbrella, getting a tan while enjoying the sun and the waves as I really don’t like cold or snow. Never thought I will do that someday.
My friend, Andrei, wanted to celebrate his 40th birthday on the beach and invited me to go with him on that special day. We left the cold London and landed to a beautiful sunny and warm Tenerife in Spain. The warm waves of wind gave me an amazing vibe. I had the feeling that we somehow traveled back in time and it was summer again. It is so wonderful how a few hours of flying can get you where it is always summer. Now I can plan my 20-21 winter, definitely will be on the beach :)
In the first two days, we had the chance to enjoy the sun, to go and explore other places in Tenerife, after our sunbathing. In the last two days, a sand storm from Sahara somehow interrupt our plans to lay on the beach, the dust was so dense and I could not breathe properly. It looked like we were on Mars. We could not see too much on the highway and the wind was pushing our rented car, Fiat 5000, in all directions. We had planned for that day to visit the capital, Santa Cruz.
There was a Carnaval were all the people were costumed in whatever they wanted. Some of them were very creative as you will see in the photos below. From pirates to superheroes, from kids to old men and women, all the people were very beautiful with an expressive attitude which I enjoyed so much. I loved to see everyone having fun, dancing on the streets, spending time with their friends as they had no idea what would come next, as the Lockdown. Those were happy times and I hope everything will go back to normal soon.
What else can I say ?! We had fun, a short holiday which I really enjoyed. I miss so much traveling and I have a lot of places on my list that I want to go and explore and to show you all. We had the best food in the town, we had our Airbnb flat Los Abrigos, which is not that popular but let me tell you from my experience, these little towns have the most delicious local food. We ate three days in a row at Restaurante El Mirador de Los Abrigos, and I do recommend this place if you would go to Tenerife. They also have a view of the sea and its quite romantic, and also the best rose wine you will find it there.
I had a lot of fun doing a short video on this trip and I hope you will enjoy it and let me know your thoughts. Till next post, I wish you all sunny and creative days.
Love,
Carmen
